The Jubitz Center for Modern and Contemporary Art presents rotating selections of paintings, sculpture, works on paper, time-based media, and photographs. Featuring more than 20,000 objects in nine collecting areas, including American and Western American art, Latin American art, Asian art, European art, modern and contemporary art, fashion design, and photography, the collection spans many cultures, media, and periods. Explore some wonderful Gauguin artworks, 130 Degas artworks of ballet dancers, horses and portraits then finish up with some of Czanne’s drawings and studies. We preserve and present objects held in the public trust, creating a legacy of access to art for our entire community.

The Greenberg Collection greatly boosted the national and international scope of the collection, with paintings by Helen Frankenthaler, Kenneth Noland, and Jules Olitski. NGA Images is their online collection of artwork with all images available free of charge for any use, commercial or non-commercial.
The Roberts Fund enabled the acquisition important works by Alexander Calder, David Smith, and Mark di Suvero, among others. Roberts Memorial Sculpture Fund and the Clement Greenberg Collection. While many donors have generously supported the collection, two highlights are the Evan H. The twentieth-century collection began to grow significantly in the late 1940s. Avant-garde modern art made early appearances in Portland in a 1905 exhibition and, in 1913, when selections from the New York Armory Show, which erupted in controversy over Marcel Duchamp’s Nude Descending a Staircase and other cubist and futurist works, were shown. The Museum has placed living artists at the core of its mission since its founding.
